Childhood Cancer Awareness Month: Hall of Fame, Hall of Shame

To mark September’s Childhood Cancer Awareness month, I’m identifying the heroes and the heavyweights — and the tricksters and bottom-line bureaucrats. Hyundai has bucked this trend with its Hope on Wheels program, in which a portion of the sales of each new vehicle sold in the U.S. is directed to pediatric cancer. Hyundai has donated more than $58 million to childhood cancer research from 1998 to 2012. Its goal is to reach $72 million by year’s end.
