NEW YORK – April 20, 2011 – Hyundai Motor America and its dealers announced today at the New York International Auto Show plans to donate more than $10 million to support childhood cancer research through the 2011 Hyundai Hope on Wheels® program.
A year of chemotherapy and radiation helped 10-year-old Mikayla Rietgraf fight bone cancer. With that success came her family's struggle to adjust to the next part of the journey - life after treatment.
While everyone else focuses on cars, Hyundai plans to use the press preview for the New York auto show starting tomorrow as a venue for announcing its charity success.
Camp Sunshine, with the help of Hope on Wheels, held their first program completely designated to working with families in which one twin has been diagnosed with cancer.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA – October 28, 2010 – Hyundai Hope on Wheels dedicated the month of September to raising awareness about childhood cancer and donated $6.8 million to hospitals and non-profit organizations across the country to support cure research and programs to improve the lives of children with cancer. From its start 12 years ago as a local dealer-led effort in Boston, Hope on Wheels is now supported by all of the 800 Hyundai dealers across the country and Hyundai Motor America. By year-end, Hyundai Hope on Wheels will have donated more than $23 million to fight childhood cancer since it began in 1998.
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA – September 2, 2010 – Hyundai Hope on Wheels, a partnership of Hyundai dealers across the U.S. and Hyundai Motor America, today marked the beginning of National Childhood Cancer Awareness month with a press conference to launch a new nationwide initiative to support the fight against childhood cancer and announce the donation of $6.8 million in “Hope Grants.” Hyundai executives, leading pediatric oncologists, families with children impacted by cancer, Hyundai dealers and elected officials gathered at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. to unveil the list of 68 hospitals and non-profit organizations that will each receive a $100,000 Hope Grant. The grants will be used to fund direct research projects and support meaningful initiatives undertaken by doctors, nurses, social workers, child life specialists and other professionals who work with children with cancer
