Hyundai Hope On Wheels awards grants in various categories to researchers at eligible Children’s Oncology Group member institutions. The highly competitive grant programs are aimed at expanding the knowledge base of the disease and improving the standards of care. In 2016, Hyundai Hope on Wheels will present more than $13 million in pediatric cancer research grants to children’s hospitals across the United States. Grant winners are selected by a scientific review panel.

Grant categories include:

  • Hyundai Quantum Grants in the amount of $1,000,000

  • Hyundai Hope Scholar Grants in the amount of $250,000

  • Hyundai Young Investigator Grants in the amount of $150,000

  • Hyundai Impact Grants in the amount of $50,000

Hyundai Scholar Grant

The Hyundai Scholar Award is presented to scientists involved with translational research and who work directly with pediatric cancer patients. Recipients are selected based on the promise of their proposed research. The Hyundai Scholar Award is a three-year grant totaling $250,000, presented to 24 doctors in the month of September.

Hyundai Young Investigator Grant

The Hyundai Young Investigator Award provides funding for principal investigators whose research projects are likely to have a significant impact on improving the understanding of the biology of childhood cancer. Young investigator Award recipients may be in their 3rd or 4th year of fellowship training or currently pursuing clinical or laboratory research and have completed their fellowship training within the last 7 years. The award is a $150,000 two-year grant. In 2016, we will present 10 of these grants during National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September.

Hyundai Impact Award

The Hyundai Impact Award recipients are selected from selected from Children’s Oncology Group (COG) member institutions. The intent of the $50,000 award is to provide funding for either innovative research in the field or programmatic support of the selected institution’s pediatric oncology department. A total of (21) twenty-one Impact grant awards will be presented in 2016.

Hyundai Quantum Award

This year, Hyundai introduced its largest research grant to date-- the $1 million Hyundai Quantum Award, which was given to four children’s hospitals as four $250,000 grants per year for four years. The $4 million investment will support life-saving transformational research on cancers with low survival rates. The Quantum grant is open to eligible Children’s Oncology Group (COG) member institutions.
