Congressional leaders, Hyundai executives, dealers, Medical Advisory Committee members, pediatric cancer patients, survivors and their families, and local children’s hospitals joined together to participate in the events.

September 19-Automaker Awards Children’s Cancer Researcher
The Hyundai Hope On Wheels foundation and Westchester-area Hyundai dealers this week awarded a $250,000 grant for pediatric cancer research to Dr. Mitchell Cairo, physician-researcher at New York Medical College and chief of Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital’s pediatric hematology, oncology and stem cell transplantation team in Valhalla.
September 17-Childhood Cancer Awareness Month: Hall of Fame, Hall of Shame
To mark September's Childhood Cancer Awareness month, I'm identifying the heroes and the heavyweights -- and the tricksters and bottom-line bureaucrats. Hyundai has bucked this trend with its Hope on Wheels program, in which a portion of the sales of each new vehicle sold in the U.S. is directed to pediatric cancer. Hyundai has donated more than $58 million to childhood cancer research from 1998 to 2012. Its goal is to reach $72 million by year's end.

"Awareness" has gotten a bit of a bad rap these days. Childhood cancer advocates, mostly parents who have, like me, the unfortunate luck to have lost a child to cancer, say that it is not enough, that action is what is needed. It's hard to argue with the statement that we need more action. We do. Our kids and your kids -- those not yet diagnosed with cancer, but who will be one day -- deserve it and yes, need it.
September 11-All Children's Cancer Research Getting $250K Hope Grant from Hyundai
All Children's Hospital is getting a $250,000 grant for childhood cancer research from the Hyundai Hope on Wheels program and St. Petersburg-area Hyundai dealers Tuesday. Dr. Gregory Hale will receive the Hope Grant for his work on the generation of cytotoxic T-lymphocytes for treatment of Epstein Barr reactivation and lymphoproliferative disease after transplantation.
September 5-St. Louis Children's Hospital receives $250K donation
St. Louis Children's Hospital is getting a big boost in the fight against childhood cancer. It's part of Hyundai's "Hope on Wheels" program, which has sent about $70 million to pediatric cancer centers over the past 15 years. The hundreds of thousands of cars that Hyundai has been selling over the years have added up when it comes to funding research into pediatric cancer. Along the way, Hyundai's Hope on Wheels campaign has become the nation's second largest nonprofit devoted to the cause.
August 29-Hyundai Hope on Wheels Awards DeVos Children's Hospital with $75k Grant
Hyundai Hope on Wheels and Western Michigan Hyundai dealers will award Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids today with a $75,000 Hyundai Scholar Grant to Dr. Jessica Foley for her research focused on prolonging survival for children affected by osteosarcoma. Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is one of 40 recipients of Hope On Wheels’ 2013 Hyundai Scholar Grant, which supports Hyundai Scholars. Hyundai Scholars pursue research and implement clinical programs aimed at improving the lives of children battling pediatric cancer.
August 21-Hyundai Awards Local Tumor Institute With Grant
Representatives from Hyundai and Grant Petersen of Bronco Motors gathered at St. Lukes Regional Medical Center in Boise on Tuesday to present a $75,000 Hyundai Hope On Wheels Scholar Grant to Eugenia Chang with St. Luke’s Mountain States Tumor Institute.
June 12-Hope On Wheels Donates to URMC School of Medicine
Hope On Wheels presented Dr. Jessica Shand of Golisano Children’s Hospital with a $75,000 Hyundai Scholar check which will help fund a pediatric cancer research project. Hope On Wheels has donated $400,000 to the University of Rochester School of Medicine since 2007.
